WHO DO WE SAVE?

Adult cats on euthanasia lists
In overcrowded municipal shelters, cats who aren’t adopted by a certain date often face euthanasia, despite many being healthy. Labeled as "not easily adoptable," these cats are at high risk. Paws and Claws Cat Rescue intervenes to give them a second chance, providing the care they need and the opportunity to find loving forever homes.
Moms and their neonatal kittens
We welcome nursing mothers with their fragile newborn kittens, as well as orphaned kittens. Paws and Claws Cat Rescue has built a network of devoted foster homes equipped to provide the round-the-clock care essential during this critical stage, ensuring the health and well-being of both mothers and kittens until they are ready for adoption.

Sick cats
We rescue cats suffering from various illnesses, whether they are temporary conditions or more serious diseases. We’ve rescued cats with fresh wounds and abscesses, those with ringworm, FIP, and treatable conditions that municipal shelters lack the resources to manage such as upper respiratory infections or digestive issues. Our team delivers the required medical care to restore their health, offering these cats an opportunity for happy, healthy lives.
Black and tabby cats
Black and tabby cats are among the most overlooked in shelters, putting them at high risk of euthanasia if they aren’t adopted quickly. These cats are often viewed as unremarkable because of their common coloring. Black cats face additional challenges due to superstitions associating them with bad luck. We believe that every cat deserves a loving home. We are dedicated to raising awareness about these harmful biases, challenging misconceptions, and advocating for these overlooked cats.

Cats with chronic medical needs
These cats require ongoing medical care to manage chronic conditions such as congenital birth defects, kidney disease, Cerebellar Hypoplasia, FeLV, and other long-term health challenges. Paws and Claws Cat Rescue is committed to providing them with the necessary treatment and support to ensure a good quality of life while finding dedicated families willing to continue their care.
Cats with behavioral quirks
Some of our cats have behavioral quirks that need more socialization and patience than municipal shelters can provide. These cats may be shy, anxious, or prone to overstimulation, leading them to bite or scratch humans or other cats. Paws and Claws Cat Rescue is committed to understanding their unique needs and finding the right homes where they can flourish.

Bonded pairs
Bonded pairs are cats that have developed deep emotional connections and must be adopted together. Often, these pairs are siblings or were surrendered from the same home, though some have formed bonds with other cats in our care. Separating them can cause considerable stress and anxiety, so we ensure these pairs are placed in homes where they can remain together and continue their companionship.
