When Minerva came to us in an intake from a partner shelter in early September 2024, we were told she was two-years old. A quick look at her teeth told us she was actually around 10-years old, and after an exam from our in-house veterinarian, we discovered she was also deaf. We had a feeling she was from her very loud and constant meows for attention.
We weren’t sure how she came to be a shelter cat, whether she was surrendered or found as a stray, but she was very underweight and needed proper nutrition fast. Once she gained weight and some confidence around other cats, we decided she was ready to be put up for adoption. It took only two days for someone to take her home.
The senior cats that come into our rescue have a special place in our hearts. Her new family recently shared their joy: “Sweet Delilah (formerly Minerva) is adjusting phenomenally in our home! She’s the sweetest cuddle bug, following us around everywhere and serenading us with her calls.”
Stories like Minerva’s remind us of the magic that happens when adopters open their hearts to the imperfectly perfect senior cats. You can help ensure senior cats like Minerva get the care they need to find their forever homes by joining our Paw Print Club today. Together, we can give them the happy endings they’ve always deserved.
